(i.e. trip has a front end d/h MEM-ORD-PVG. i deviate, get to ORD myself and then fly on the scheduled ORD-PVG leg. i can't check in until reaching PVG and most of the time, unless the capt is on the scheduled leg, the ground trans has been canceled and won't be there when i arrive.)
