I'm 39 and started last year (getting PPL)..I will finish off in the next couple of months. My goals are slightly different than most here in that I want to start my own business rather than go down the Regional and main airlines route. I have a very niche market I can get into, however that's also tourism related. I'm thinking that within the next 1/2 years things might get better which will then be perfect for me to start my business. I'm also exploring cargo but that's a whole another conversation....

I would say, if you are going to get into it, go and do your PPL at a small school rather than one of the big schools that charge stupid amounts of money. I would also study now to get your written exam out of the way so that you can focus on the actual flying. This will save you money in the long run.
