Does anyone think it’s a bit weird to see the amount of voluntary displacements awarded? Like I’m seeing folks getting VD from JFK 320 to MCO 320 in the 31xx range. I don’t understand how it’s possible that someone would be displaced from JFK at that seniority level. If it was a vacancy award I could see it, but at first glance it seems like they processed VDs as a ‘preference’ rather than a displacement. How are people being ‘displaced’ to more senior bases? I viewed the voluntary displacements as almost like a pseudo vacancy bid, so not that weird once the dominos started to fall. Where people got hurt was by bidding a VD thinking they needed to do it to protect themselves in case they got displaced. I think there would be less confusion if they called it something else besides Voluntary Displacement.
