This is how airline bankruptcies have played out in the past. Don't expect signs of a filing before a filing happens... just like you don't expect a heads up about furloughs before news about furloughs breaks.
There are a lot of “ifs” and “cans” in your statement. It’s not a strong enough argument against giving people more time. What if we go to war tomorrow? What if you get drafted? You can speculate all you want but that doesn’t change facts right on front of you that people ignore because of their “feelings” about what “might” happen.
