Meanwhile some of you guys will be picking up open time with people on furlough, if you want to talk about scummy behavior. heck we have guys picking up open time right now.
Picking up open time RIGHT NOW is encouraging the company NOT to furlough. Bear with me. I wish people wouldn’t straight drop short notice. Drop early. The flights land in open time. Since line holders only can pick up flying - it costs the company money. It’s flying above guarantee.
I recognize that the commuting reserves don’t get assigned the trips and may have to buy extra hotels but THAT doesn’t encourage keeping staff.
Now once we furlough active pilots nobody should pick up open time - EXCEPT from the trade board. People should not drop they should post the drop in trade board. The more we can cost the company in payroll the faster furloughed pilots return.
The company has been able to make a profit while still paying 300 pct in the past. They can afford to keep employees. Being adequately staffed can save the co money and lead to better QOL for all.
