I don’t expect mitigation, but a vote would be nice. I certainly appreciate the furlough fund. That will make a huge difference in my life.
I still hope that the Association can come up with some type of mitigation that doesn’t weaken the contract to prevent a few furloughs, or possibly an additional assessment to help ease the pain. The insurance is a big deal, and having it covered during my furlough was a big help. The problem that I see is that some (not pointing fingers at anyone directly) seem to think that we have the ability to have a bigger impact than we actually do. Any previous or future mitigation will only save the final few. I’m afraid that the 2,850 are screwed, and that any efforts to help will only chip away at the 3,900+ number. The company has a number in mind of how many positions need to be eliminated. Any offer from us would have to be at no additional cost to the company, and considering the state if the industry, I don’t see how we can accomplish that.
