Look at the data behind the rhetoric. Perhaps read some of what data driven authors such as Larry Elder, Thomas Sowell, and others have to say. One of the biggest factors contributing to poverty, criminal activity, and involvement with the law is broken homes, and the data will show that the black community by far leads that demographic. Both liberal and conservative think tanks agree on this. President Obama said the same thing in a speech. The data will show that one group of people commit a disproportionate amount of crime. It will show that that same group is also more likely to resist arrest when confronted with law enforcement. It will also show that more white people are shot by the police than black. Another study showed that police are far more reluctant to use force against a black criminal than a white one because they are afraid of potential backlash. The narrative that police are out hunting black people is completely false. Just like in any other line of work, there are bad apples, but to paint all police with a broad brush is wrong. Larry Elder summed it up pretty well. He said that for people to avoid violent confrontations with the law, all they need to do is stay in school, don’t engage in criminal activity, and if confronted by an authority figure, cooperate. If you choose to drop out of school, get involved in crime, and physically attack the police when confronted, your lifespan will most likely be short, regardless of race.
