If it happens to you, call 911 immediately. You can get help for the SO, and eventually get her back with the kids but if you don't make the call it can easily turn into the man gets the blame, which will be Game Over for an airline pilot. The system is spring-loaded to blame you, not her. I know a guy who got saved only because his six-year old daughter was very mature, made a very credible witness, and somehow managed to make the right choice and tell the truth in a very tough spot. BTW the cops and DA tuned out the daughter's testimony, they took the easy SOP: blame the dude. It got sorted out in court, and took months. All would have been avoided if he had made the call immediately.
