As others have stated, a lot of us will receive a fairly significant amount of money to just leave. In my case 5.5 months and some vacation payout. This gives me 6 months to figure out what I am gonna do, and I feel like this is plenty of lead time. The truth is I started preparing in March.

Second, I feel like both ALPA and the company are putting the pilots in a tiered class system. Call it the lower class (bottom 1/3), the middle class (middle 1/3), and the upper class (top 1/3). I dont know about the rest of you, but I DO NOT want to be part of a tiered class system designed by the both the union and the company.

Finally, I am 45 years old, and in my opinion, this is gonna be a long event. Recover could be as short as 2 years to as long as 10 years (opinion only as no one really knows). At my age, if it last 10 years, I have to consider alternative careers, because coming back at 55 to salvage an aviation career seems to be a poor decision on my part. I will do what is best for me, and my family FIRST. The rest is a very distant secondary thought including protecting others jobs. Sorry as I am sure that will be a hard truth for some. Sorry for the length.
