13 years, on and off, and I don't recall that one. As people say, must be specific to certain planes and MX practices. I personally never slam the boards or anything else in an airplane.... old habit, slamming the drag devices (ie condition levers) on a turboprop would stress-test the prop governor... if it didn't pass the test, you might die.

If you like to aggressively manipulate airplane controls in anything non-aerobatic, might want to reconsider. Lot's of energy available in the actuators and also the airstream... your airplane structure and other components may not appreciate being suddenly subjected to that.
