Where are you getting the idea that pilots will be paid for seats they aren’t occupying? A small percentage of displacements have thus far actually been trained. If the RUMORS are correct (again, no TA yet) then the pilots who have a displacement “award” but have not been trained yet will have that “award” and the associated training canceled. That’s people like you, if I am understanding your situation correctly. And, people who HAVE been trained will be restored to their previous position (SFO 756, etc. TBA). Easy for the company...it’s literally a day or two of training. So they save beacoup $$ on all the costly extended courses they DON’T now have to do, plus with no furloughs what the hell else are they going to do? Park 5000 people as NB FOs? Additionally, with the cargo flights going gangbusters they want to leave 787/777 pilots right where they are, indefinitely. That has put a twist in the initial displacement plan, and will I’m sure foreshadow what the “Kirby bounce back” might require staffing-wise.
