Its money. What's the magic number for a couple? My dad made it to 93. That's a long time to live off of savings, especially when one considers health care concerns. I've already done a hell of a lot of damage to my liver, so I have that going for me!

No MIL pension here and my PBGC benefits are 300 dollars per month. SS might be 2800. No inheritance money coming. And I don't live in the boondocs nor care to.
