Stop spreading RIDICULOUS scare tactics from the company.
8 hours concessions won't safe the company from furloughs if things are as bad as you think they are.
By the way, EVERYONE is already NEGATIVELY affected.
I already lost at least 15 hours of pay the past couple of month. My expenses are higher, commuting sucks. My flying is less, yet I'm spending more time commuting for the lack of flights.
Tell the Union to increase LOA hours, and more senior people making $110 per hour will bite. That's more effective than stealing 8 hours from every pilot.
Senior pilots cost more money, not only in hourly wages, but all the expenses associated with social benefits, vacation, sick pay, etc.
Senior pilots have better schedules, have more days off, and are able to pick up more overtime as a result of this. Heck, I'm at 94 hours credit for this month already, yet still having 14 days off.
There is no need having 250ish pilots on reserve. Cutting 8 hours and keeping everyone on board won't safe the company IF THINGS ARE SO BAD.
I say it again, most MESA PLANES ARE FLYING. Yes, they are flying less. As of October, our share on the United side WILL increase. Express jet will be gone in IAH. IAD has already increased as a result of United awarding us more flying this month.
We ARE the cheapest express carrier for a reason. Mainline loves us for this reason. Our flying won't disappear come October.
Please EXPLAIN to me why Mesa hasn't sent Warn Notices out by now?
Also let me know where we deposit the 1 or 10 grand for the upcoming furlough bet. 🤑🤑🤑
I agree that 490 furloughs and not imminent. However by January unless something drastically changes with demand the 490 is a conservative number.
We are a two carrier airline. United flying is at 50 pct of last year. AA at 40.
What you don’t seem to grasp is that September has been our best month since March. Future months are WAY LESS. We only need 50% of our current pilot staff to staff the flying we will have in October if you average it out system wide. It’s that bad.
On the AA side we only need 270 pilots TOTAL to staff October. Even if we need 500 on the United side that’s still HALF the current pilot group.
I don’t really care which way you vote. But I will tell you that the furlough number is no bluff. It’ll come in pieces to allow for training but it will come. The company has 3 options. PSP 2.0, this MOU or furlough.
Whether right or wrong the company feels that they won’t be required to issue WARN notices.
I did suggest to my rep an increased credit VLOA. You say Sr guys will jump on it. Well this MOU gives that to them. If they bid reserve then long call, call me last they won’t be used and they’ll get 68 hours to stay home.
The company is trying to position itself for profit. It’ll survive regardless. But it wants to win. We don’t need to be adversarial and so far I don’t see the company taking that stance. I see them open and communicative.
My personal selfish interest is in avoiding the downgrade. I’m looking at this:
I’ve also had a huge pay cut due to being at min credit.
Psp 2.0 - no additional pay cut
MOU: 7.5 pct pay cut.
Furlough: 50% pay cut.
not to mention my friends who will be much worse off with a 100% pay cut.
I did some rough math. The 8 hours across the board comes within 20 pct of the savings from a 490 furlough using the company’s downgrade numbers.
Again vote for your best interest. But do vote.
