Just to be clear this isn't the very senior at the top of the seniority list but those senior in each BES. As in those who were junior capts, bumped into a senior fo seat yet retaining their capt pay. If we put caps on pay now the top 20% in each BES get build their paycheck vs the 5%. There's only so much flying to go around. You do the math regarding the rest and their ability to pick up pay.
Remember the precedent being set for years and decades to come. The aftermath won't end in two years.
Great point again. I think I would add though, that myself as an example as a junior captain, bumped back to the right seat, I don’t think I would be in the top 20% as an FO. not incredibly relevant, except that looking at who will be the “winners” if we don’t have caps with an MPG reduction.
Go up 1000 numbers from me, and you are still in the bottom third, and those guys/gals would be quite senior as narrowbody FOs (in most bases). So, all I meant to say, is that there are winners and losers in every “third,” if that is in fact how this AIP is broken up
