I remember seeing a memo in the BWI crew lounge from the Chiefs (back when Bert was CP and well before he went back to the line) that said to stop putting the pedals all the way forward. It was because Maintenance was getting too many aircraft with the pedals jammed forward that were causing delays on originators. After that I just left the pedals where I had used them. As for the seat I always left fully back (even on the -200 s) so that it was easier for me to get out, but I never adjusted the height.
Same with the well-intentioned practice of folding seat belts, while looking nice (like parsley), it was actually discouraged by a former carrier's Tech Ops because it placed unnecessary stress (maintenance) on the reclining hardware. Day after day, pilots arch into the seat back to cross their seat belt, followed by the incoming pilot arching to uncross them. Not just pointless, it's costly.
