I would not recommend either Wordpress services as they are not as user friendly for a novice, but if you find it works, then great. In your case, I'd advise you to check out Wix.com. I believe you might be able to build a sample site for free before signing up but I don't remember for sure. It's easy and clean. If you wanted to sell any merchandise on your site, Shopify is also a good option.
