The only way to slow the spread and minimize deaths is to reduce human interaction as much as possible. Allowing low risk individuals to go about their lives as if COVID isn't a thing will just make it spread faster which WILL cause the high risk people to catch it.
It is a matter of amount of exposure, risk, protective equipment, etc. Those over 65 go to the grocery store and wear masks. They do not go to movie theaters, crowded events, stay in as much as possible. The younger, low risk crowd go about their life with a few precautions.

How do younger doctors and nurses protect elderly who come to the doctors offices? PPE, temperature checks, hand washing.
