The whole “flattening the curve” was never going to prevent people from getting the virus. It was meant to spread that out over time. Look at the chart. As the vertical line is flattened the horizontal line is spread out over a longer period of time. Sweden allowed the virus to do what it was inevitably going to do and they are open with no masks and some social distancing.

The US seems to have totally failed to understand that people are going to get the virus no matter what. This lack of understanding causes panic and a totally irrational response by our leaders when a state reports for example 700 cases and 3 deaths in one day. People for some reason had this expectation that since we locked down the virus would go away. They are totally surprised when the lockdowns end and people get the virus. It’s so comical (in a sad way).
