With thousands of layoffs coming to us, there is no doubt Trump wants to take that political capital off the table. I doubt anyone if government actually cares about the airlines.
They may not care about workers, but they do care about a key economic enabler.
The ones who like business, want the economy back.
The ones who like taxes are slowly coming to the realization that there's not going to anything to tax if the economy doesn't turn around.
There are also some who just want the airlines to go away for good.
