I agree. 20% or whatever is a fart in the wind. If he is wrapping this around a no furlough guarantee then as a group we have a decision to make. That was my point, albeit poorly made. Maybe he wants us to “share” in the struggle with the other groups who have taken cuts. Who knows.
I believe a second round of airline PSP money will be here before Jan 1. Let’s not look past the posturing (Oliver twist, hat in hand) for congress to act. I have no doubt Gary speaks the truth to how dire things are financially, but securing the PSP money is key and there has to be public threats and action of furloughs, pay cuts, etc to light a fire under the chairs in congress.
If I were in the big chair, I would want to save the companies money (war chest) for the time to pounce and grow while the others are collectively licking their wounds. If we get the PSP money, and things turn around next spring/Summer SWA will be positioned well.
If things are looking dire in Feb, then run a second round of the VSP program.
