I can't recall if GK's "we'll shelve the 800" comment was in something the company or the union put out (which was pretty much the same thing back then) or both, but it was definitely said.

Because pilots like shiny new jets, "we" voted to pay (no retro in 2012) to fly the 800 for, effectively, less hourly pay (longer duty days).
