To the spread the wealth piece. The company will staff on needs. Period. If they need 10K pilots to fly the 2021 schedule and beyond, that is going to be the number. Now, you are saying that ~2000 pilots are going to be paid less, and then the remainder are going to earn less in order to pay the 2000 less, even though the company truly only needs 10K.
Guess what? They'll take the savings from reductions, furlough anyway and then curb stomp the remaining on the list. That is airline management 101.
They set the manning. Not us or our union/association. You want the majority to take a $$ hit, perhaps a significant $$ hit to what has already transpired in order to do what exactly? "save" jobs. That is not the pilots responsibility.
Once you give in to these guys, they are like sharks with blood in the water. This is a trial balloon to see what you will do. Some of you are running right into the jaws with your LECs leading the way (talking to you council 44). First this, then they are coming for scope etc. They are testing your resolve. Are you going to fold to pander to their "job savings" sirens song? Or are you going to hold fast and preserve?
Looks like you completely missed what I said, but that's typical of you to miss everything and go off rambling.
They set the manning based on how many block hours and how the contract and FAR's dictate how much we can fly. If we fly less they need more manning. So, that solves everything else you rambled on about and it's self correcting.
For someone who holds himself out to be so altruistic I'm surprised at your response. Wait, no I'm not...
