It’s an odd position be in considering the hiring history in this industry. Until the last few years, 1,500 hours was just a number. Right before the rona hit it was taken as a given that you would have multiple offers from the regionals as soon as you had the time. What was historically the minimum qualifications to even apply with a regional, suddenly became competitive experience. Hopefully the new people look at as a good life lesson rather than being shocked after getting hired by the regional of their choice, quickly upgrading, and then finding out that there is no guarantee of ever making it to a legacy. Many people who can check every box never get the call, many others don’t think that they need to check every box and somehow think that the phone will still ring. It’s a crap shoot, but you have to be in the game to win.
