Dont hear what I'm not saying, I'd be happy to get other pilots off the street. It just kinda clashes from what we normally do.
Valid concern, but I think the three regional airlines that have folded over the past 6 months could supply our staffing needs for quite awhile. Given the current hiring environment, even if they did find a flying job, I doubt any of them are somewhere that they’d really want to be for the long term. Even if we did hire some furloughed legacy guys, depending on the amount of time it takes them to get recalled, they very well may choose to stay at Frontier. The pay may be a little less, but the QOL here makes up for it for many. Especially pilots who have a few decades or more of life experience under their belts at the time of their legacy furlough. At some point it doesn’t pay to go back unless you REALLY want to have the opportunity for widebody international flying towards the end of your career. For some people, that kind of flying doesn’t matter enough to start at the bottom again. Me personally, I’d love to give it a go someday, but while I’m not old by any means, I’m not young either. The little bit of salt and pepper in my hair and orthotics in my shoes tell me so. Being around for my kids with the kind of quality of life that I currently have here is way more important to me than getting behind the controls of a 777 someday.
