You’re not being asked to donate money to a company. You’re being asked to pay a ransom to “possibly” keep yourself or a union brother employed or not downgraded for a year. Your reaction depends on if you think the ransom demand is credible, and/or if you think the possible benefit to you justifies paying the ransom.
For most people commenting, it seems the ransom demand isn’t credible, I.e. the furlough threat is either hollow or inevitable even by paying the ransom. For others, they don’t think the potential benefit justifies the cost.
