You PB are completly missing the point here, let me TRY to bring u up 2 speed most people do not necessarily want, or feel like "retiring" these days (of better general health), at age 60, and if a person has a job that they love why should they "retire" just because a bunch of "young punks" (your words NOT mine) want to "take over"

now lets get back to the theme of this thread.
What if it is unsafe? I know plenty of old timers who have an old friend flight surgeon in their back pocket. Besides the system is meant to move forward at the current pace. The younger generation have to be able to advance in a timely manner or else they will not be able to support their families. Eliminating the age 60 rule would create 14% more pilots overnight. It isn't right just to give those who should retire something to do with their time.
