Default The Tomball Requirements

They seem to be the same as Conroe, with the same pay.

A. To be eligible to serve as a substitute teacher in the Tomball
Independent School District a person must
1. Have completed a minimum of sixty (60) semester hours
of college for substitute teachers
2. Have completed a minimum of forty-eight (48) semester hours
of college for paraprofessional substitutes
3. Be approved by the Personnel Department.
B. It is a requirement of the Texas Education Agency that school districts
maintain a personnel file on each substitute teacher employed. The
following list of items is required for the personnel file:
Completed application
College transcript
Teaching certificate (if applicable)
Tuberculosis examination (skin test or chest X-ray)
Form W-4
Form I-9 (including a copy of two identities, social security, and driver's license)
Information sheet (emergency contact)
Access to Records (criminal record check)
Letter of Reasonable Assurance
Worker's Compensation Letter
Substitutes that work either short or long term positions (more than 25 days) must produce official transcripts and an original teaching certificate.C. In order for your name to be removed from the substitute roster, you must make a request in writing to the Personnel Department.

A. All substitute checks will be mailed to the substitute's home address the day prior to each designated payday. Substitutes will be paid in half day or whole day increments only. Each building secretary will maintain a time card for pay purposes, which will be turned in to the Payroll Department. Should there be a question regarding paychecks, first contact the building secretary and then the Payroll Department if further assistance is needed. Substitutes will have Medicare, Social Security and Federal Withholding deducted from their paychecks. Any substitute who is a former TISD employee who has an accrued sick leave balance MAY NOT use this sick leave to be paid for days that you are unavailable to substitute. Sick leave may only be used if you resume full-time employment with our district.

B. Substitute teachers in the Tomball Independent School District shall be reimbursed for their services in keeping with the following guidelines:
Substituting for 1-9 days in the same position, or in different positions: $75.00 per day. Substituting in the same position for 10 or more consecutive days: $85.00 per day, retroactive to the first day of that assignment.
Short-term: extended substituting in the same position for 25+ consecutive days, and holding appropriate degree and valid Texas certification for the position; may receive the daily rate for a beginning full-time teacher, after proof of eligibility is established, and subject to the approval of the Personnel Department. At the end of the assignment a balloon payment will be issued for the difference in the beginning teacher daily rate and the amount you have been paid to date for consecutive days worked. A break in service of no more than 5% of the assignment will not effect this status if the short-term substitute is responsible for planning for the assignment during this break. Benefits are not included.

C. Substitute Paraprofessionals: Substitutes for paraprofessionals in instructional positions may be utilized as needed on a daily basis. Substitutes for paraprofessionals in clerical/office positions require an anticipated absence of the employee for a minimum of 5 consecutive days, or approval from the Director of Personnel.
District training will be offered for substitutes interested in working special classes (PPCD, Developmental, Functional Living, LAB) Verification of attendance must be submitted to Payroll.
Substitute paraprofessionals in Tomball ISD shall be reimbursed for their services in keeping with the following guidelines:
a. Substituting for 1-9 days in the same position, or in different positions: $60 per day ($7.50 per hour) for general services; $75 per day for district-trained substitutes in special classes.
b. Substituting in the same position for 10+ days: $70 per day for general services, $85 per day for district-trained substitutes in special classes, retroactive to the first day.
