With your flight time, you could go to....
Expressjet, Pinnacle, Mesaba, ASA, American Eagle, Comair, Air Wisconsin, PSA, Piedmont, and several others. All of these airlines are in a different league than Mesa.
The reason why EVERYONE on this board is telling you not to go to Mesa is because it is the advice they would give their closest friends and family. Mesa is the most poorly run airline in the world. Pilot morale is terrible and management is doing one hell of a job of running the airline into the ground.
In the next 2-3 years, I predict Mesa will loose most to all of their United and US Air flying. Those airplanes have to go somewhere, and that will either be the desert (ie, retired), or China. Mesa will continue to shrink (as they have been over the last year or so). In addition to your delayed upgrade, you will be costing yourself tens of thousands of dollars in lost wages, perhaps one hundred thousand dollars by not choosing a quality airline like Skywest, Expressjet, Republic. When Mesa goes under, or you get fed up working there, you will have to go back to these airlines anyway, so why not just start there.
Personally, I think going to Mesa is like investing in Enron. Actually, people had no clue that Enron was going to go bust. So how about like investing in some company that everyone knew would go bust. Are you willing to risk several years of your life with Mesa...
When you come back on here in a few years asking "Is Skywest hiring?", or "What are the mins at Republic?", or "What is the junior base at Expressjet?", we will all be as helpful to you as we possibly can. We will be as helpful as we all are today by telling you to NOT go to Mesa. But we will not have any sympathy. Rather, we will mention, "I told you so!"
We are telling you NOT to go to Mesa for a good reason. You can take everyone's advice, or you can choose to ignore it. The decision is up to you.
Personally, the sooner you realize that Mesa is not the place to get your time, the sooner you will be on your way to a successful career. Every minute you spend at Mesa is time you are taking away from your final career destination, and costing you lots of money.
I have spelled it out as best as I can. Do not go to Mesa!!!
