It's not the emergencies(enging failures, smoke etc) I am worried about, it's more of dealing with dispatch forcing you to go complete the trip when its below minimums, calculating fuel...dealing with either go or no go situations....fatigue etc.. you know..captain stuff!
I was never asked this question til 3 weeks ago, captain asked "what do you want to do?" Go or take the delay and possibly cancel the flight..My answer...."ummmmmmm"
There is absolutely
NO way a CFI - regardless of experience - can make decisions like that...how can they? A 10,000 hour Naval Aviator can't even be expected to know the first thing about 121 Dispatch ops...That kind of decision-making falls into the category of part 121 and personal maturity. Period. That is why we have Captains who mentor First Officers and train them as their replacement...
