Perhaps for a brief, glittering moment sometime during the 80’s and maybe into the early 00’s, SWA sort of bucked that paradigm and rebelled against the system. Maybe. But, whenever it ended, that moment ended. It’s over. We’re just another corporation playing our part in the corporatocracy. And we have been for at least 10–15 years.
I guess the point I failed to make is all companies start out with the team spirit, rah rah mgmt because when your small, new, growing etc that is your main selling point. Delta didn't furlough for the first 60+ years of it's existence, then they did in the late 90's. Even then they offered nearly everyone another at the company like loading bags etc until the furlough was over.

SWA has matured into a very well run, major airline which will forevermore have real major airline problems, just like everyone else. They should avoid a furlough this time, but someday, the right mix of circumstances will present themselves and they may.

Maybe in 2080 the few pilots of Breeze airways will be talking about how their company has lost it's way because it is going to furlough.

Good luck to us all!
