I love the idea of solar and wind power, and even driving a Tesla. But it shouldn't be forced on anyone, and the government shouldn't be picking winners and losers. It should be a result of a free market merit.
Plus there's not enough of it to practically get where they want to go. Unless they plan on restricting travel... I guess they could make all non-business travel subject to official approval, perhaps you'd go to your neighborhood party boss for a travel pass.
