I've never heard of a pilot getting fired for partaking of the catering stock. I do know as fact that FA's get fired for that, typically for taking it off the airplane, especially if it's unopened. Know as fact that an FA got fired because the hotel staff found company-marked empty bottles in her trash... obviously the company had to initiate that, don't think the maid did it on her own initiative. So grain of truth.
"Theft" is a one strike deal, if they want to go there.
