You missed my point entirely. I came on this American Airlines thread to read about bankruptcy (or not, in my opinion) at American Airlines. I did not come here to read about the difference between Embraer regional jets, being flown by many people who genuinely believe their new city pairs are a good thing, while thousands here don’t have job security. The scope clause “is what it is”. Doesn’t mean anyone here gives a flying F about talking about ejets.

I’d recommend giving this a read. I posted it prior, but it got stepped over by Finessed creating havoc.
Flying an empty airplane at 25% capacity taking a $20,000 loss per flight isn’t giving you more job security than a regional jet flying the same route at profitability. A full flight in a mainline jet profits $10,000 yet an empty flight could costs you more than 2 flights at full capacity, think about that.
Also consider the normal route structure for a regional. Which is feeding small airports to a major hub (in most cases would never be a profitable route for a mainline jet), bringing passengers in to fill mainline jets (job security). The flight loads at American or any other major would be decreased significantly. Grandma and Grandpa won’t bother with a 4 hour drive to the major hub that will fly them to their eventual destination.
I came to OO a couple of years ago from a 141 school with student loan debt. I have zero intentions of being a regional lifer and I’m not a cheerleader for increased regional flying. Just trying to make the point, be careful for what you wish for.
