The government is giving them 70% (I think) of overall payroll in exchange for paying 200~ FO’s. They’d been insane not to take that.

Also, I don’t envy those furloughees at all. It’s far from a sweet deal. Yes they are paid right now for nothing, but that is only guaranteed for a couple of months. I’m sure quite a few of them have gone back to their CFI/corporate/military jobs they had previously. That’s probably a one time lifeline for most. You can’t just quit and come crawling back every 3 months.
If you are 23 and still have your mom doing your laundry, it may not be that big of a deal, but that is definitely NOT everybody.
