Yes you can. I've done it consistently. It's called REVISIONS. EXTENSIONS. They add up. Or DRAFT after you've cleared your schedule with a vacation block. I can't count how many times I was on 125% for Substitution. It adds up.
Extensions beyond 3.5 days are voluntary. Wouldn’t that draft trip you picked up in your vacation month be extra flying? Even if every month paid 125% it would be hard to get 1500 credit hours without extra flying or selling back vacation. IMO, selling back vacation is working extra, those are days you would get paid for not working. You can think of it how you want.
