TOFU was more likely with your method. "Salute received, review WDR"
The old trigger worked for single engine starts followed by immediate taxi. It flowed well in that scenario.
It didn't work well if the CA decided to do the WDR, and it didn't work for two engine taxi. The new trigger works in all scenarios.
