Opening a portal to submit your resume still doesn't mean they are hiring. It's like when one of the big 3 open recruiting portal but nobody gets a call for 6 months and then start dates aren't til a year later. The article says they are "planning" to hire 100 pilots. It's a press release so take it with a grain of salt.
Also, only recommended instructors get to interview so it's not a guarantee of a job. You have to get picked and pass the interview. Maybe one in 10 cfis get picked and maybe 10% of the 10% get a job. Sounds like a money making scheme for ATP.
You're blending together two separate events. Frontier Pilot Recruitment is pulling from Airline Apps during the date window that I described. They are hiring actual qualified individuals and putting them in class. Don't want to fill out an app so you can chill at Mesa? That's on you.
The ATP shake and bake deal is completely separate.
