Interesting. Just for a different point of view, my wife is a former airline pilot who quit to stay home with the kids. If a woman wants to go down to the bar in a hotel for a burger and a beer and has to go by herself, there can often be unwanted attention from other patrons as they assume she is there to get picked up. I had never given that much thought until she had me look at it from her perspective. As such, if I'm paired with a female FO I always offer to meet for dinner just to spare them some unwanted attention. They can (and often do) say no, but I think it is just being polite and taking care of your crew to offer, especially if you have to leave the hotel to get someplace decent.
