After 20 years of airline contracts, I know that the company always has better lawyers than ALPA
If there’s a word in the LOA, it was put there by company lawyers for a reason. if there’s a word missing, it was left out by company lawyers for a reason.
The expectation (and the reality) is that most pilots will focus on the pay table, make their decision, and then maybe browse the rest of the TA. They will not dissect the fine print. I can guarantee the company will exploit every word of the fine print to their advantage in ways we can’t even predict until after it’s done. The company is playing chess and ALPA is playing checkers. Not a slam on our NC, because it’s the same at every ALPA carrier out there.
