They're concerned that you will be able to get to work on time. If you're remote based (I think that still means other than pdk and psm, but I could be wrong) it's mostly a non issue as you'll be commuting, so the 3 hour wheels up home standby rule wouldn't be the norm. Certainly not if you're based somewhere like Richmond or Raleigh. You'd spend most of your time being 2 hours wheels up from the Hampton inn in Portsmouth, or at PSM with 1 hour for your standby. But again, I could be very wrong. I'm only speaking from what I've seen, not experienced.
Bottom line, if you can convince them that you can be at work on time, and have it be more than "I swear it won't be a problem" I think you'll be ok within reason.
I haven't heard anything about hiring, but I have not asked.
