I was not particularly worried either, due to the reason you mention, I always wash my hands when I get to the hotel room, however mistakes happen and not everyone does that. You dont have to lick money for something to get on your hands. If you accidentally then rub your eye, well that's how viruses work. Not rocket science.

Given the immense publicity Covid received and the measures that governments around the world took to slow the spread, I am surprised more attention didn't get focused on paper money.
