Any thoughts?
Delta Airlines CEO Richard Anderson told the company's board of directors Tuesday that he would waive merger pay of up to as much as $15 million, a report in the Wall Street Journal said Wednesday.
The news is the latest movement in weeks of merger talks between Northwest (NYSE: NWA) and Atlanta-based
Delta Air Lines Inc. (NYSE: DAL).
Anderson's willingness to forgo pay that he would contractually be due in the years after a merger shows that he is serious about merging, the WSJ said. It added that the measure could be interpreted as a "good faith gesture," signaling that Anderson would remain with the company beyond any merger agreement.
Last week, the Minnneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal, a sister publication, reported that
Northwest Airlines CEO Doug Steenland said to employees in a letter that a merger is likely.
Delta is the largest airline flying out of
Dayton International Airport.
