Spaniard here. Your assessment or what your friend told you is on point. Eastern Europe is doing things the right way, France is about to implode, Italy has had more elections and pseudo-presidents than any other country out there, Germany is pretty ****ed at smaller countries not doing their homework but at the same time pretty comfortable being the boss.
I really don't see any country following UK's steps in the near future honestly.
