Last year they tried this same thing in MIA. They demanded that AAG pilots had to re-list as a D6UJ and started handing out papers to gate agents informing them of the new procedure that they had decided was being implemented. While I feel for them, there is no brand loyalty for YX pilots. They can fly a flight for any of the three carriers. You cannot fence them off. If you could, then maybe they could give them some sort of perk, but a YX pilot commuting on an ORD-EWR flight isn’t going there to benefit AA in that base so why should they be able to bump off a NK, B6, DL, etc. pilot? YX signed an agreement and they should honor it. Waking up to the gate in MIA and saying to a pilot trying to get home “yeah, I know this is an AA flight and you’re a D2, but because I don’t like the contract my company signed, I am going to let the Spirit guy have the jumpseat. Tell your management if you don’t like it,” won’t buy an ounce of sympathy from us. Ask me how I know. Starting a unilateral action is not going to end well for anyone. Ok
