Yikes this got ugly in a hurry. Who makes $30,000 or less a year right now? Republic junior FO’s who took a pay cut to avoid furlough? They don’t have to worry about tipping van drivers anyways, they’re not working more than what 2 trips a month? so what is that around $6 in van ride tips a month? Give me a break.
If the van driver doesn’t want to play the part, then don’t tip them. If he/she plays the part, give them a dollar and say “thank you”, not hard, show some respect.
I’ve flown with pilots who don’t tip during the whole 3-4 day trip, but can’t wait to run over to the nearest airport McDonald’s and buy their $12 happy meals during sits. I have my doubts that “saving money” has anything to do with it.
