Yes, vitamin D has shown some benefit in reducing the severity of upper respiratory infection from both viruses and bacteria but it won’t prevent you from contracting COVID-19 or becoming a symptomatic or a asymptomatic spreader of the virus. And yes, survival rate is near 99% but merely surviving should not be the only goal.
I have a close acquaintance who’s been dealing with lingering respiratory and cognitive effects from the virus for six months now. She’s an otherwise fit, athletic and healthy 35 year old living a reduced quality of life after surviving the virus.
New data out of Israel where over 50% of the population has now been vaccinated has shown very promising results. 85% reduction in symptomatic cases after only one dose and 94% reduction after two doses and huge reduction in both symptomatic and asymptomatic transmission of the virus which is potentially a pandemic ending result if enough people are vaccinated.
If you’re afraid of the relatively new technology of mRNA vaccines then get the J&J vaccine that uses a more traditional method of vaccine development which has nearly eradicated polio, measles, mumps and rubella.
I would just encourage everyone to be part of the solution so we can move on from this pandemic.
Excellent summation, sir. The data out of Israel is what I’m following to see if it continues in other population groups. And, if the Moderna or J&J show a similar result, we really have a way out of this mess that China really did start. (Read Rage, it’ll explain it.)
