I was on the 767 briefly, at another company, about a decade ago but don't remember STBY NAV. Can you remind me what that does?
But hey, finding the coastline at the end of a crossing is easy. The trick is knowing if you need to turn left or right when you get to it!
Many of us run the APU on the guppy over the water, even if it’s etops certified. Not worth the risk if you need it during an emergency to have to white knuckle it hoping and praying the thing starts. For as little fuel as it takes to leave it running, it’s cheap insurance. Our safety margins on this thing over the water are slim enough as it is. This airplane was never designed for this type of flying, so taking away my emergency generator with the hopes that it starts when I need it?.....no thanks.
