In Icn, you get a stipend paid by Delta because you can't leave the hotel....like 63$ a day. They would eat breakfast for $14 and use the rest of the stipend (use or lose) and load up on anything they could buy. The stipend was in addition to their per diem
They were not using "their" money.....the cake could suck, but by God they were gonna get it because it was "free" for them
‘You could only “buy” certain cakes if you were going to bring them back to US. No cakes with fruit on them. I brought one back once. Wasn’t that good. Ended up throwing most of it out. No one in household really cared for it........not enough sugar in it!
Side Note: Desserts in Asia ain’t that good....
