It’s not like they’re just hanging them out in the wind- there may be some logistical reasons for wanting ATP pilots in addition to the financial savings. Sims/instructors might be hard to come by if things are really ratcheting up.
I could be wrong but I heard CTP courses are currently backed up as well.
