Put yourself in our shoes for just a few moments and imagine ending a 4 day pairing for AA Eagle. Your only shot at getting home is on AA so you run across the airport (Ord) and get to the gate only to see a Spirit, JB, and DL pilot huddled at the desk waiting for the JS. Your stress level just went up a few points because the flight benefits you pay for (AA Travel Planner) puts you at the same priority for JS as the other 3 OAL pilots who listed as D6. You end up getting stuck as the JB pilot gets the JS because he checked in first. All this because AA doesn’t think it’s “fair” because you’re flying a United pairing next week. So yeah, we can’t “seem to comprehend” it because it’s complete BS.
